Treating the cause of Asthma
Have you ever wondered why people get asthma? There are a myriad of reasons. The primary reason is that the person’s body is not responding to stress correctly. Stress can come in many forms. Diet, air quality, emotions, physical trauma, and so much more contribute to our daily stress. Our nervous system is what mediates and regulates how we respond to stress. When that stress gets too great for our body to handle, we experience dis-ease and subluxate. One form of dis-ease is asthma. Your body needs a properly functioning nervous system to keep you well. People with asthma typically see huge changes under Chiropractic care.
Treating the cause
Does a chiropractor “treat” you? According to legal parlance, maybe so. But the intent of a chiropractor is to care for you, NOT to treat your symptoms or cure your diseases. That would be an impossible task for anyone. When chiropractors talk about “treating the cause”, they are referring to caring for you through the detection and correction of vertebral subluxation so that your body can heal itself. When the body heals its self, there are no side effects or contraindications. No worries or concerns. It is doing exactly what it should be doing; moving you to a state of greater health and wellness.
An Infant Resolves Chronic Asthma
A recently published case study in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health (Vol. 2014, Issue 2, pp. 27-29) reported a 19 month-old patient with the Medical diagnosis of severe chronic asthma and a Chiropractic diagnosis of vertebral subluxation. At 9 months, the patient began experiencing symptoms of asthma. By 18 months he had been treated 4 times at the hospital emergency room for episodes of acute respiratory distress. He suffered from constant wheezing and cough and was not responding well to pharmacological interventions. Adjustments of the cervical spine were preformed on 6 visits. After 9 weeks, no further episodes of breathing difficulty were reported and measures of vertebral subluxation had reduced. This case suggests that Chiropractic adjustments to reduce subluxation may be effective for the reduction of asthma symptoms in some pediatric cases which have not responded well to standard pharmacologic treatment.
