Therefore, if there is any stress or interference to the nervous system, the body cannot heal or regulate as efficiently as it was designed to, and some form of dysfunction will result. That is why we believe that everyone should be checked for vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments causing nerve pressure) on a regular basis.

Dr. Clark has studied and mastered many different chiropractic techniques, but knows that there is not a “one size fits all” or “cookie cutter” approach to health care. He therefore customizes his approach with each patient to ensure that the best individual care for the best outcomes.

Phases of Care:

Building a house can be a metaphor for chiropractic care. First your need a good foundation before you can build the walls. Then you need the walls in place before you can add the roof. Of course you need plumbing and electrical. Then you can do all the finishing touches that make a house a home.

The same is true for chiropractic. Your body needs a certain sequence of events to heal properly and fully. We refer to these phases of care as Relief Care, Corrective/Restorative Care, and ultimately Wellness Care.

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come to Market Place Chiropractic Wellness Center, our first goal is to help you feel better as quickly as possible. Depending on the severity of your condition, it is typical to require more frequent adjustments, possibly 2-3 times per week for the first few weeks. Most people experience relief within the first few visits.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective phase of care, muscles, ligaments and disks are allowed to heal more completely. This helps prevent further injury and dysfunction. Just like losing weight of getting in better physical shape, this process can take several months as the old unhealthy and abnormal muscle patterns are transformed into healthier muscle patterns. The length of Phase 2 will depend on the severity of your condition and your overall health.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once the body has healed fully, it is important to return periodically for “spinal tune-ups”. These adjustments help to avoid regression of your condition and prevent future problems from occurring. This is analogous to wearing a retainer on your teeth after the braces have been removed. These adjustments become an important part of living a chiropractic wellness lifestyle. Most wellness care patients come in for care once or twice a month, based on the degree of lifestyle stress and individual wellness goals.
